Story of America cards were released in 1979 in the US and Canada by Panarizon cards and covers all aspects of American History in a beautiful picture card set. Each card has a wonderful write-up about the person, place or event that is depicted on the front. All cards are in full-color (except of course cards that use old black and white pictures) and all cards are in English and this set is often called History of America cards but the true name is Story of America cards. This set is the same size and design as the famous Sportscaster history of sports card set from Editions Rencontre (same company with different trademark names). The cards measure 4 11/16 x 6 1/4 inches (12 x 16 cm) and they are printed on a glossy card stock and they have rounded corners. The cards are all copyright 1979 Panarizon Publishing Corp. USA and they are Printed in Italy (cards are in English).

This subscription card set was delivered by mail to buyers in "decks" sent every few weeks. The buyer could then remit payment which would continue the subscription. These cards were never available as a retail set, only by subscribing could you accumulate some or all of these cards, and they are all copyrighted 1979 but they were very likely still sold in 1980 as well but they have been completely out-of-print since. There are 94 decks of 24 cards for a total of 2,256 cards plus several booklets that were included as a bonus every so often with the decks of cards. Categories of cards include Government, The Revolution, The Nation's Wealth, Thought and Culture, Entertainment (includes sports), Daily Life, Transportation, Coming to America, Westward Expansion, Wars Abroad, The Civil War, Science and Invention, The Black Man, The Indians and more.

The cards are numbered on the back with a 5-digit pre-fix followed by the deck number and the card number within the deck: 03.012.dd.cc

03.012 is the 5-digit set code found on all the cards and dd= Deck number (01 to 94) and cc= Card number (01 to 24).
